Just classic, fluffy rolls you can whip up with pantry basics!
I just broke into my happy dance, let’s bake these up : )
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet instant yeast (2¼ tsp)
- ¾ cup warm milk (not hot — about 110°F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)
- ½ tsp salt (optional, but adds flavor)
Directions
- Mix the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir in the flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix with a spoon until the dough starts to come together. - Knead It:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5–7 minutes until it’s smooth and stretchy. Don’t worry — it’s easier than it sounds! - Rise Fast:
Shape the dough into a ball and place it back in the bowl. Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm spot for 20–30 minutes, or until puffy but not necessarily doubled. - Shape Your Rolls:
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal pieces. Roll each one into a ball and place them close together in a greased round or square baking dish. - Final Rest While the Oven Heats:
Let the rolls sit while you preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). They’ll get a little more puffy — just enough. - Bake:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the kitchen smells amazing. - Butter & Serve:
Brush the tops with melted butter while they’re still hot. Serve warm, and prepare for compliments.
Tips for the Fastest Rolls
- Use instant yeast (not active dry) to skip long rise times.
- Let your milk warm to the touch — not boiling — to wake up the yeast quickly.
- Keep rolls close together in the pan for soft, pull-apart edges.
- Want that magical golden glow? Add a dash of honey to your melted butter before brushing. YUM!
These Rolls Are Perfect With:
- Soups and stews
- Holiday meals
- Sunday dinners
- Or just because you deserve a roll!
