Sometimes you just need some extra carbs with dinner am I right?

*Cue these* awesome rolls that are buttery SOFT and fast to bake up!

They ready in under an hour.

Made with just a handful of ingredients.

Perfect for any meal — whether you’re serving up a cozy stew or pulling together a holiday spread on the fly.

No bread machine (who has the room?) No fancy flour (why spend more money?)

Just classic, fluffy rolls you can whip up with pantry basics!

I just broke into my happy dance, let’s bake these up : )

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • ¾ cup warm milk (not hot — about 110°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)
  • ½ tsp salt (optional, but adds flavor)

Directions

  1. Mix the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir in the flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix with a spoon until the dough starts to come together.

  2. Knead It:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5–7 minutes until it’s smooth and stretchy. Don’t worry — it’s easier than it sounds!

  3. Rise Fast:
Shape the dough into a ball and place it back in the bowl. Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm spot for 20–30 minutes, or until puffy but not necessarily doubled.

  4. Shape Your Rolls:
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal pieces. Roll each one into a ball and place them close together in a greased round or square baking dish.

  5. Final Rest While the Oven Heats:
Let the rolls sit while you preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). They’ll get a little more puffy — just enough.

  6. Bake:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the kitchen smells amazing.

  7. Butter & Serve:
Brush the tops with melted butter while they’re still hot. Serve warm, and prepare for compliments.

Tips for the Fastest Rolls

  • Use instant yeast (not active dry) to skip long rise times.
  • Let your milk warm to the touch — not boiling — to wake up the yeast quickly.
  • Keep rolls close together in the pan for soft, pull-apart edges.
  • Want that magical golden glow? Add a dash of honey to your melted butter before brushing. YUM!

These Rolls Are Perfect With:

  • Soups and stews
  • Holiday meals
  • Sunday dinners
  • Or just because you deserve a roll!

Fyodor Dostoevsky said, “There is not a thing that is more positive than bread.”

I mean…was he wrong?

Happy baking!
